What is a domain name?
A domain name is, in a nutshell, an address on the web. In order to find a person or company online you use a domain name so that you see the website that you require, or so that the e-mail you send goes to the correct person and place. For example, our domain name is another.com. When this is entered into a web browser like firefox or internet explorer you are taken to our page because our domain name points to it.
What is a subdomain?
A subdomain is a subdivision of a domain and is commonly used to divide up web sites. For example if we were to have a separate shop on another.com selling branded mugs and pens we could create a subdomain and locate the shop on buyourstuff.another.com. Some websites use secure as a subdomain when they are encrypting content (such as bank sites or a shop checkout).
What is bandwidth?
Bandwidth in the hosting industry is generally used to describe the amount of information that flows from a particular webserver. If you take another.com as an example, when you visited this page your browser downloaded the information you are seeing from the another.com webserver, this takes a very small amount of bandwidth every time new information is requested (like navigating to a new page).
What do I need a MySQL database for?
A database can be used to store information when you have a website that has dynamic content in. For example a shop needs to store the prices of items and also pictures and descriptions of products, This is normally stored in a database for quick retrieval. Most modern blogs and CMS require a database on the webserver so that they can store their content.
How do I register a domain name from Another.com?
Preparation To register a new domain name simply login to our website www.another.com and search for your domain and click on the "check this domain button", click on "Register this domain". Now select your web hosting package either complete website or basic site and select the button "Order this package" From here follow the link to make payment. Confirmation email will be sent to you when order is completed. What happens now? When your order is placed and your payment cleared, we will initiate your domain registration and web hosting automatically. A confirmation email (s) will be sent to you when completed. How long will my registration take to process? The registration is processed instantly and you will be able to login to administer your domain and start building your website or upload etc. .
Can I transfer my existing domain (s) to Another.com?
At present, we are only taken new sign ups for another.com. Future plans will be in place to transfer existing domains from current registrar to Another.com.
How do I login to my Another.com webmail?
To access your webmail, please login via www.another.com. At the top right hand corner select login to "Your Account". A drop down menu will display and choose the option on the left hand side "WEBMAIL Login or alternatively visit http://webmail.another.com/ with your username and password.
How do I login to my cPanel?
To access your cPanel, please login via www.another.com. At the top right hand corner select login to Your Account. A drop down menu will display and choose the option on the right hand side "cPanel Login" or use the link http://webhost1.another.com:2082/ with your username and password.
Logging into my Account/Billing?
To login to account/billing, please access the link: http://manage.another.com/ You will be presented with the default billing login screen where you can enter your username and password. If you have forgotten your password, please click the link on the login screen stating "reset password?" and a reminder will be sent out to the email address on file. If you have forgotten your username, please contact support by submitting a ticket and we will be able to assist .
Logging out of my Account/Billing
You can log out of your account at any time by clicking the "Log out" button at the top right hand corner of the interface. You will also be automatically logged out of the system if you close your web browser, or if your session is inactive for an extensive period of time.
